Industrial Engineering Manager job# 08017
Under general direction, responsible for complex planning
activities related to equipment layouts in plant, office,
and production facilities. Conducts studies that determine
the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow
and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production
facilities and personnel. Prepares cost estimates for
proposed projects and evaluates cost factors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include
the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop, document, and implement scaleable assembly
process flows, methods, inspection points, and tracking
tools, including route cards and step-by-step assembly
process sheets for the high-mix low-volume manufacture
of miniature software-enabled radio modules and systems
used in the Defense, Industrial and Commercial sectors.
Apply in-depth experience with circuit board fabrication
(SMT and through-hole) and modification using IPC sanctioned
rework methods, point-to-point wiring, wire harnessing,
and electromechanical assembly in a hi-reliability environment.
Develop procedures for handling and cleaning of components
and
assemblies including those which contain microwave frequency
devices. Apply your knowledge of the theoretical bases
for manufacturing processes and materials, including
the use of: Epoxies, Solders, Solvents, Plating, &
Metallurgy.
Apply in-depth “been there – done that”
experience and engineering aptitude to tasks such as:
- Fixture design and implementation
- Development, execution, and grading of manufacturing
qualification plans and pilot runs,
- Development and execution of continuous improvement
plans for cost, yield, and reliability,
- Development of productive and meaningful inspection
strategies and specific instructions
- Implementation and leadership of combined design
and assembly teams in design-for-manufacturing analysis
and improvement,
- Yield and overall quality improvement,
- Performance of root cause and failure mode analyses
resulting in corrective action plans for process related
failures
- Process documentation and controlled revision
- Participation in material disposition
- Performs on-time annual performance reviews of
subordinates.
- Assists in determining staffing needs and in the
hiring of staff.
Education and/or Experience:
- 10-15 years of experience with 6-8 years in an established
High-tech electronics manufacturing environment
- BS or MS Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing
Engineering(Degree or measurable experience in Process
Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering is a plus)
- Prior management experience

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages five-seven subordinates. Is responsible for
the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation
of these individuals. Carries out supervisory responsibilities
in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning,
and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding
and disciplining employees; addressing complaints
and resolving problems.
